Raising the standard of project development
As the economic trade-offs of decarbonization become increasingly evident, carbon removal emerges as an important part of the transition to a net-zero economy. Yet many projects still struggle to meet the standards of transparency, governance and operational rigor expected in a maturing market.
FLS was founded to address this challenge. We develop forestry and carbon removal projects built on measurable outcomes, durable carbon storage, and disciplined execution. Why this matters now
Carbon dioxide removal is emerging as a necessary complement to emissions reductions. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has made clear that reaching net zero will require large-scale carbon removal, while independent analysis suggests that 7–9 billion tons of CO₂ may need to be removed annually by mid-century to remain aligned with a 1.5°C pathway.
At the same time, expectations are rising. Market participants are placing greater emphasis on project quality, transparency and verifiable outcomes. Claims alone are no longer sufficient; projects are expected to demonstrate how carbon is removed, measured and monitored over time.
As the market matures, the focus is shifting from ambition to evidence.
