Project Midgard
Large-scale mosaic afforestation in eastern Paraguay
Project Midgard integrates commercial forestry with conservation and ecosystem restoration to create a diversified, long-duration land asset.
Commercial forestry provides a long-term economic foundation, while dedicated conservation and restoration areas strengthen biodiversity outcomes, ecosystem resilience, and carbon sequestration.
This mosaic approach is designed to generate sustainable commercial returns while delivering environmental value through carbon removal, forest landscape restoration, and conservation.

Progress to date
Phase One is converting more than 16,000 hectares of depleted cattle grazing land into a mosaic forestry plantation with areas of protected conservation.

Governance & sustainability
Effective governance is fundamental to project quality, risk management, and long-term performance. FLS establishes clear reporting structures and oversight mechanisms from the earliest stages of development.
Project Midgard operates under a comprehensive Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS) that integrates environmental, social, and operational risk management throughout the project lifecycle.
In addition to local regulatory requirements, the project aligns with internationally recognized frameworks and standards, including:
- Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)
- International Finance Corporation (IFC) Performance Standards (PS5, PS6 and PS7)
- Gold Standard
- United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
